Established in 1953, the Lafayette Juniors is an organization of women dedicated to promoting social welfare, education, and civic improvement in Lafayette and the surrounding communities.
This organization allows members to experience the joy of giving to others and in return, gain long-lasting friendships as well as a stronger connection to the community. Their primary fundraising event, the Lafayette Juniors Kitchen Tour, has become an overwhelming success and is now running in its seventeenth year.
Dana Green, former president of the club created and implemented this annual event. According to her, “It is extremely gratifying to see so many talented and diverse women join together to promote and strengthen our community.”
The Lafayette Juniors Kitchen Tour is host to six beautiful and distinctive kitchens. The tour highlights Lafayette’s distinctive and sought after neighborhoods: Happy Valley, Downtown Lafayette, Hidden Oaks, and Springhill. Local vendors are featured along with a wide array of color schemes, interior design themes, and architectural styles. Tickets include a gourmet-boxed lunch provided by Huckleberry Kitchen.
This year, the Kitchen Tour will be held on May 14th. The tour has become an annual Lafayette tradition that many look forward to. The mild May weather, incredible kitchens, and eager attendees make this event a success year after year!
Each year Lafayette Juniors select different charities to donate to. This year’s tour beneficiaries are: Youth Homes, Diablo Ballet’s PEEK Outreach Program, Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano, and Lamorinda Spirit Van. Each of these non-profit organizations provides services for children, families and seniors in Contra Costa and neighboring East Bay counties.
