Kick off your summer at one of Lafayette’s coolest community parties, Night at the Library, benefitting the Lafayette Library and Learning Center. I love this annual event, and I love our library for so many reasons. I believe a great library can serve as the foundation of a great community, and our library is a perfect example. In this one central place at the corner of Mt. Diablo Boulevard and 1st Street you can meet bestselling authors, learn about upcoming Bay Area museum exhibits, hold a hedgehog, and look at the stars through a powerful telescope, all of which make this treasured community resource so much more than a place to check out books. Educational and entertaining programs for all ages make our library a communal gathering spot for children, adults, families, and seniors. I really can’t think of any other place aside from our sports fields and swim club pools where all ages come together in pursuit of a common goal. At the library, that goal is knowledge.
Night at the Library is Saturday, June 2 at 6:30pm. The party starts in the Library’s Community Hall with music, hors d’oeuvres, cocktails and wine, and a live auction. It then moves to the main library where guests will enjoy delicious bites, specialty cocktails, and a bountiful silent auction. At the evening’s end, guests are invited outside to the amphitheater for coffee and dessert served under the stars.
