Alamo

Alamo is known for being affluent and upscale. You will find large homes and horse properties in the area. Many Alamo residents belong to the Round Hill Country Club—facilities include an 18-hole golf course, 15 tennis courts, and an 8-lane competition-sized swimming pool. The town has one shopping center, several parks, and many hiking trails in the area.

Alamo residents enjoy the benefits of top-ranked K-12 schools in San Ramon Valley School District. Students are provided with a curriculum that focuses on essential skills including language arts, mathematics, social studies and science. Physical education, health, foreign language, technology, and visual and performing arts programs are also offered.

San Francisco is 30-minute drive away (depending on traffic) or about an hour by Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART). The closest BART station is in Walnut Creek, about a nine-minute drive away. Oakland is approximately 20 minutes by car.

Alamo offers a nice selection of cafes and eateries in town. Here are the top choices according to Tripadvisor. And, don’t forget, a myriad of world-class restaurants are just ten minutes away in Walnut Creek.

Year-round on Sundays, you’ll find the Alamo Certified Farmers’ Market. Nearby, you can hit the Walnut Creek Farmers’ Market and the Moraga Farmers’ Market, both open every Sunday as well.

Summers here are warm and arid, while the winters tend to be short and wet. July and August are the hottest months, with the average high of 87°F. December is the coolest month, with an average low of 41°F.

On top of the dog-friendly trails at the local national parks, your dog is going to love the 1.5 acre off-leash Hap Magee Ranch Dog Park. The “canine corral” features separate play areas for large and small dogs.
