While it’s a fact that Lamorinda offers all we need for a happy life, it would be a shame to miss some of the amazing and endless Bay Area activities that surround us. It’s true that people from all over the world travel to Northern California for the abundance of cultural riches and natural resources. From North to South, and East to West, we’ve gathered some of our favorite outings, all right in our own backyard!
North Bay: Explore beautiful Point Reyes via a West Marin Food and Farm Tour. Go behind-the-foodie scenes with guided tastings of the area’s best wines, cheeses, breads, pastries, produce, grass-fed meats, oysters and more. Learn about artisan food production, local history, sustainable agriculture, and enjoy a picnic on the shores of beautiful Tomales Bay. A food-lover’s dream!
San Francisco: Disneyland fans owe it to themselves to visit The Walt Disney Family Museum located in The Presidio. Featuring a miniature model of Disneyland park and rotating exhibits, this museum is the next best thing to an Anaheim visit. Starting March 8, the work of animator Glen Keane will be featured. He’s the creator of unforgettable characters like Ariel, Rapunzel, and Pocahontas, and he collaborated with Kobe Bryant on the Oscar nominated short Dear Basketball. Go on a Sunday and enjoy the spoils of Off The Grid’s Picnic at the Presidio – where San Franciscans of all ages converge to celebrate food and fun.
East Bay: Not to be overlooked, Alameda offers communal open spaces and a spectacular waterfront biking/walking/roller blading trail network with panoramic San Francisco views. Shoreline Park is a slender greenbelt that runs along the northern and western perimeter of Bay Farm Island. Several developed mini-parks are interspersed along the shore, and the Bay Trail runs through most of the park’s length. Take a picnic, enjoy the sunshine, and ponder why you’ve never ventured here before.
South Bay: Explore the origins of the computing revolution (and of your own personal tech devices) at Mountain View’s Computer History Museum, dedicated to preserving and presenting the stories and artifacts of the information age in an engaging and interactive manner. Play a game of pong, learn how animators do their thing, and watch a video detailing Paul Allen and Bill Gates’ rise to high-tech stardom. Then head over to the Google campus, grab a brightly colored Google bike, and cruise the hallowed grounds. Finally, a visit to Silicon Valley isn’t complete without a stop at the Apple campus for a few selfies in front of the iconic Apple logo.
Whichever direction you choose for your adventure, enjoy our amazing Bay Area!
