The handcrafted birdhouses perch on Lafayette’s Happy Valley neighborhood street and road signs, standing sentinel, waiting to be noticed by birds — and you. Have you found them all?
The birdhouses, built and installed by Lafayette’s 2013 Citizen of the Year, Greg Moeller, are an outgrowth of his daffodil-planting Happy Valley beautification efforts. You’ll also see some quail and miniature deer decor in the mix as well.
The daffodils are hard to miss. The rest? That takes more concentration.
Here’s a hint: We found more than 20 birdhouses as we drove the big loop from Deer Hill and Happy Valley Road to Upper Happy Valley and then back along El Nido Ranch Road to Mt. Diablo Blvd.
We’d be more specific but that would spoil it for you.
“The real fun is in the hunt,” says Dana Green. “I have lived in Lafayette all my life and still enjoy what we refer to as discovering, ‘The Pride of Lafayette,’ in its many nuances. I hope you do, too. Enjoy!”
