Creating Fall Ambience

Our latest topic comes from a member of our team, Jennifer Ries. As we discussed ideas for fall blogs, Jen mentioned that she had gotten a jump on seasonal decorating and that she loves the change in her home. She said, “With the work from home lifestyle, it has been nice to feel a real difference in my house. The warm, autumn colors make it feel cozy and welcoming, it’s like a fresh start!”

With a passion and eye for interior designer, I know how one small modification in the home can make a major difference in feel and vibe. And right now, I’m guessing we all could use a little change in our environments. So, I asked some of Lafayette’s home décor experts for their advice and tips. I hope their ideas provide a bit of inspiration, and I hope that your fall days are filled with warmth and joy.

From Allie Diaz at Indigo & Poppy: “Cozy up your home for fall with warm colors, a spicy candle, and a little whimsy. Add a collection of pumpkins big and small, even different textures. Include warm golds, rich browns, and shiny metallics.  Swap out your pillows for more texture. Warm up with a new throw. Shorter days mean a need for more ambiance. Update that reading lamp. And, with this year being all about outdoor family gatherings, fine-tune your outdoor spaces. Bring your indoor chairs outside, layer rugs under the table, and string those café lights! Bust out your best linens and create a beautiful tablescape using fall foliage, apples, and pumpkins.”

From Stefanie Cannizzo of Emerson Grace Design: “Fall is in the air and Emerson Grace Design has everything you need to make your home cozy and comfortable. Throws in fall colors add layers of softness to your home and are warm additions once the weather gets a bit colder. Pillows can be a wonderful way to refresh your home and we have a multitude of colors, fabrics and textures. If you don’t see pillows that catch your eye, we can help you make your own with our huge selection of fabrics.  A few well-placed candles and diffusers made with essential oils bring warmth and fall aroma to your home.”

Tamara Shewmaker of Misto Lino says that autumn can be found within their culinary items. Set a fall table with new, nature-hued linens, and how about a new cookbook from which to prepare a fall menu? Misto Lino has a great selection of cookbooks to inspire, such as The Forest Feast by Erin Gleeson, a tribute to creating community through healthy food. Gleeson’s table of contents features a ‘Fall Feast’ menu including pomegranate punch, butternut and goat cheese crostini, kale-hazelnut salad, Zaatar roasted carrots, squash lasagna, and pear thyme galettes.

Sounds like the essence of fall to me! Cozy-up and enjoy.
