I really like this infograph summarizing the top results of a survey recently commissioned by the Professional Landscape Network about the ways people say they use their yards and the kinds of yard improvements they make. Does it ring true for you? It does for me.
We enjoy such beautiful weather nearly year round in Lamorinda and surrounding communities, it’s no surprise that our backyards and other outdoor spaces are important to our lifestyles. We use them for all the reasons responders nationally said they used their yards – and for most of the year. And these are the same ways home buyers I work with expect to use the yards they hope to own.
What’s interesting, though, is that no matter what specific yard amenities are on each buyer’s wish list (e.g. level, pool, landscaped, raised gardens, view), the number one thing each buyer seems to really want is a connection between the yard and house that allows for easy flow back and forth year-round.
Does your home already have that connection? If not, and you’re thinking about your next big backyard project, you might want to look into what it might take to create that yard to house connection — both for you and your family’s current lifestyle as well as your home’s ultimate resale value.
