We had a very nice crowd come through our new listing at 3190 Somerset Drive in Lafayette’s Burton Valley during Brokers Tour this week. I know from the many positive comments that others like what I like best about this bright, mid-century traditional home: It’s a nice combination of charm, potential and location!
I particularly like that its ideal floor plan includes a family/bonus room, easy indoor-outdoor access and a level exterior on a corner lot that allows for easy entertaining, outdoor dining, gardening, and play!
The big plus of this home, though, is location.
Tip: Take the Time to Explore this Particular Part of Burton Valley on Foot, Starting with the Lafayette Community Park
There are many homes that qualify as “Burton Valley” but one thing that is particularly special about 3190 Somerset Drive is that it is truly situated in the heart of Burton Valley, so close to its many popular Lafayette lifestyle amenities that they feel like neighborhood ones – schools, pools, ball fields, the Lafayette Community Center and trails.
If you’re planning to stop by the open house on Sunday (1-4pm), please consider packing walking shoes so you can experience this first hand. I recommend you start by entering the Lafayette Community Park through the Silverado Drive entrance. You’ll find it located near the intersection of Silverado and Somerset — just a little more than a block from 3190 Somerset.
This will take you into the main open space trail area of the park where you can choose to take a quick wander or a larger explore. As you enter the park, stay to the right if you want level land or climb the hill and enjoy views on your way to the first of the park’s two Eucalyptus groves.
Either way, no need to worry about getting lost, except in your thoughts!
Most of the trails intersect with one another, and you’re never very far from an exit option back into the surrounding neighborhoods and the potential to circle back to your starting point via road or the paved Lafayette-Moraga Trail rather than dirt park trail. You’ll even find easy access to public restrooms, which are located both at the Lafayette Community Center (cross the bridge mid-trail) and on the ball field side of the park, near the playground.
The many neighborhood access points into Lafayette Community Park allow anyone using the park to create different walks depending on mood, weather, and/or time available.
Sometimes, the park is just the best short cut from one area of Burton Valley to another. In the morning, this includes school children on bikes riding to Burton Valley or Stanley Middle School via the Lafayette-Moraga Trail. There are even some not so secret “hidden” Lafayette Community Park entrances you’ll come to love once you move into the neighborhood, including the one off Sandalwood we wrote about previously.
