Do you ever drive by a beautiful home and wonder what lies beyond the front door? It’s fun to imagine how other people live. Often, our team’s Sunday open houses are attended not so much by those looking to buy, but by curious neighbors – and make no mistake, we love it! (Any viewing of a listed home is a plus in our book.) I took notice of this sort of curiosity several years ago when I was staging homes for others. At the time, I was the major fundraising chair for Lafayette Juniors, and in trying to initiate a novel fundraising event for our organization, I proposed capitalizing on this fascination we have for viewing other homes – and thus, the Lafayette Juniors Kitchen Tour was born. Now in its 18th year, the format continues to be the same as it was initially – a self-guided tour throughout six special Lafayette homes with masterfully designed, unique, elegant, and inspiring kitchens. New this year is the opportunity for guests to meet with a few of the architects, designers, and contractors who created the stunning spaces. Attendees also receive a program detailing each kitchens’ distinctive design elements.
This year’s kitchen tour is Saturday, May 20th from 10am – 3pm. Tickets are $40 ($35 tax deductible); a box lunch is available for $15. Proceeds will benefit the work of four local non-profit organizations: Contra Costa Interfaith Housing, Alternative Family Services, The Taylor Family Foundation, and Trinity Center. These organizations were selected by Lafayette Juniors for the support they provide to women, families, and individuals in need throughout the East Bay.
Please consider purchasing a ticket to the annual Lafayette Juniors Kitchen Tour; you’ll not only quell your home curiosity, but you’ll also help to provide for those in need. It’s a winning combination. But don’t worry – we still welcome you at all of our open houses! Purchase tickets here, or at Premier Kitchens in Lafayette.
