As a lifelong Lafayette resident, it’s not surprising that I have many Lafayette holiday memories, including long standing community traditions that I love. What I like is that there are often new ideas to add to my family’s list, like the annual It’s a Wonderful Life in Lafayette holiday community celebration that debuted in 2013.
The Lafayette Reservoir Holiday Tree
One of my favorite things to do in December is stopping by the Lafayette Reservoir’s holiday tree, a community decorating tradition that didn’t exist when I was young but has now been part of my family’s holiday traditions for years.
Located on the far side of the Lafayette Reservoir, this tree is decorated by Reservoir walkers each holiday season. Did you have a chance to hang an ornament this year? My favorites are the creative ornaments that also feed the birds, so you can imagine I was thrilled to see one of those birds enjoying its holiday treat long enough for me to snap a photo with my iPhone.
