You can tell we’re getting close to the big Lafayette Swim Conference Meet because cars in our Lafayette neighborhoods are morphing into paint-decorated swim team spirit mobiles. Their numbers will multiply, too, as we approach Saturday morning, thanks to organized decorating events at the various competing pools.
What’s all the paint about?
Lafayette swimmers from Springbrook, Rancho Colorados, Sun Valley, Oakwood and LMYA will be competing this weekend, July 27-28, at the Steve Heaston Aquatic Center, located at Acalanes High School.
“It’s the best two days of the year in Lafayette,” says Kelly Wood, a Realtor on the Dana Green Team whose children swim for Springbrook.
Kelly has been cheering on her kids at swim meets for over a decade. Two of her four children will be swimming this weekend. The Lafayette Swim Conference Meet and its precursor, the Lafayette City Meet, are particularly fun she says because they combine great competition with local friends — kids and adults — all hanging out together.
Good luck to all our Lafayette swimmers. Swim fast, and have fun!
