Lafayette’s Crestview Club – A Unique “Shared” Backyard Pool on Sibert Court

We’ve enjoyed beautiful weather today, and that has me thinking about the many backyard pools in Lafayette, and how handy they are for families who have them.

As you might imagine, whether you own a backyard pool or not is usually a fairly straightforward yes or no question. However, for a dozen or so Lafayette families who live walking distance from one another near downtown Lafayette, the answer is a bit more complicated.

Sibert Court Shared Neighborhood Pool

These families hold a key to the Crestview Club, a private neighborhood pool whose maintenance and costs are shared by those key-holding neighbors.

Located on Sibert Court, just down the hill from 859 Sibert Court, a modern Mediterranean home currently on the market, the Crestview Club serves as a sort of co-owned “backyard” pool. I’m not sure of its history, but this pool has been there for decades. Today, it is considered a neighborhood hub for those families involved, complete with beginning and end of the season parties.

Don’t look for the Crestview Club at a swim meet, though. Like most backyard pools, Crestview isn’t a huge pool. For families with kids who want to compete, it’s no substitute for Lafayette’s larger membership pool clubs like Rancho Colorados, Springbrook, Las Trampas or Sun Valley.

But it does come in handy when the weather is right!
