Making the Holidays Bright

One of our family’s holiday traditions included driving around town to see all of the festive lights. The kids would get into their pajamas, we’d load the car with blankets, I’d make a thermos of hot chocolate, and we’d scout out the most brightly lit streets and homes. This year, with your help, we are hoping that everyone in our community can enjoy this same joyous tradition, simply by walking outside your door.

In past years, Branagh Development, the Lafayette Chamber, the City of Lafayette, and my team have co-sponsored the annual “It’s a Wonderful Life” holiday gathering at Plaza Park in downtown Lafayette. But during this unique time when safety comes first, I and my fellow sponsors instead hope that you will join us in marking the holiday season with a simultaneous holiday light fest.

Here’s the plan: We invite each and every Lafayette business and household to “Make the Holidays Bright” by stringing lights and flipping the switch on Sunday, December 6 at 6pm. Brighten your neighborhood and street with this safe show of community solidarity.

Holiday lights are easily and inexpensively found at several local businesses. So, even though “It’s a Wonderful Life” is taking a break this year, together we can still “Make the Holidays Bright!”

Cheers to you and yours!
