Perfect Fall Weather Activities

September often produces some of the Bay Area’s best weather: cool mornings, sunny days, and mild evenings. Let’s all get outside and enjoy this perfect time before the Fall chill inevitably hits. Here are some of our favorite activities:

Giants Baseball: You don’t need to be a baseball fan to enjoy a day at the ballpark, especially when you have upper deck seats with a Bay view. Our San Francisco Giants play at home (AT&T Park) 14 times in September. Five of those dates are Saturday/Sunday games. For added fun, take BART, and walk to the ballpark along the Embarcadero, or take the San Francisco Bay Ferry from Alameda directly to the park.

A’s Baseball: Our Oakland A’s are also at home 14 times in September – six are weekend games. The Saturday, September 22 game celebrates with a post-game fireworks show and Sunday, September 23 is ‘Kids Appreciation Day.’

Pedal for a Purpose: Fall is a beautiful time in the wine country. Hit the open road on your bike at the 14th Annual Napa Valley Ride and Walk to Defeat ALS (Sunday, September 22). This meaningful and fun one day cycling event offers courses for all levels as well as a short walking course for non-cyclists. A festive after party includes a live band and a BBQ lunch. Anchor Brewing Tour: Founded during the gold rush by German immigrants, San Francisco’s iconic Anchor Brewing makes its beer pretty much the same way it did in 1896. Find out exactly how they do it and learn the history of the company (while enjoying several tastes) during their 1.5-hour Anchor Brewing Tour at their Potrero Hill brewery. Then head across the street to Anchor Public Taps for more beer sampling, some food truck nibbles, and a game of corn hole.

24-hour Staycation: Head one hour south to the Lafayette Park Hotel’s sister property, The Stanford Park Hotel, for a little R&R. Things we love: biking the Stanford campus on the hotel’s loaner bikes, poolside cocktail service, proximity to the fabulous Stanford Shopping Center, live musical entertainment on the twinkle-lit patio, warm chocolate chip cookies served nightly, and the occasional NFL superstar sighting (the hotel restaurant/bar is a favorite of local glitterati).

San Francisco’s Ferry Plaza Farmers Market: Held every Saturday (8am – 2pm), Tuesday and Thursday (10am – 2pm) year-round, rain or shine, this market is renowned for it’s diverse offerings of delicious, high quality products from local growers, producers, and chefs. Grab your eco-friendly shopping bags, hop on BART, exit at Embarcadero, and you’re there.
