Lafayette’s Rohrer Trail & More – New Blog Highlights “Undiscovered” Hikes of Lamorinda

Tucked at the end of Burton Valley’s Rohrer Drive, just beyond Henson’s Equestrian Center, you’ll find an unassuming brown trail sign for Lafayette’s Rohrer Trail. Have you hiked it?

Rohrer Trail View - Lafayette, CA
Rohrer Trail begins as a steep and challenging switchback climb, but quickly rewards that effort with Mt. Diablo and open space views. You could bask in that beauty and then turn around if you want.

If you’re looking for a longer hike, though, keep going. You won’t be disappointed. Rohrer Trail serves as a gateway for a beautiful hike into the woods and along the trail between Rossmoor and Hunsaker Canyon.

As beautiful as this longer hike is, it might surprise you to know that it’s not particularly well-known, even among those who live in Burton Valley.

If you want more information about it, though, we have good news. There’s a detailed description (including photos) of the Hunsaker Ridge hike in a new blog appropriately titled, “The Undiscovered Hikes of Lamorinda,” written by Lafayette resident and avid hiker, Steve Richard.

In explaining his decision to start the blog, Steve writes: “We are literally surrounded by protected open space and park lands with an endless array of trails, but very limited guides or maps that help us take advantage of them.”

We think you’ll agree that “The Undiscovered Hikes of Lamorinda” is well on its way to correcting that oversight. Already, Steve has written about several hikes, and the number of descriptions continues to grow.
